Growing & Creating in Green City Spaces
May – September 2011
A summer long project connecting adults with learning disabilities with Netherfield Community Allotment and St George’s Community Centre. Landliesfallow worked with social workers and support groups to bring people together from across the county. The aim was, in some way, to counteract feelings of social isolation and lack of activities in the wake of day centre closures. Also for people to experience the value of green space alongside the city that they are free to access. Working with landscape gardener Sally Rimmington the group grew herbs, vegetables, mini personal gardeners and toward the end of the summer cooked pies, stews, pasta sauces and veggie kebabs from allotment produce. Drumming into the Dusk sessions were run by ‘Science of Drumming’ musician Biant Singh.
